Running from April to June, the “Habits For Life” campaign responds to a seasonal increase in collisions involving powered two-wheelers (PTWs), as improved weather and longer daylight hours lead to more motorcycles on the road.
2025 saw an 8% increase in PTW KSI’s compared to the 2022-24 average, with 169 people being Killed or Seriously Injured on Surrey’s roads.
The campaign combines education, engagement and enforcement to improve safety for all road users. It also aligns with national activity, including the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) enforcement campaign in June.
At the heart of the campaign is a focus on shared responsibility. Riders are encouraged to maintain their bikes, wear appropriate protective gear, and ride within their limits, while drivers are reminded to take extra care to look out for motorcycles, particularly at junctions where they are most at risk.
As part of the campaign, road users will see targeted messaging across social media, digital platforms and partner channels. Riders will also be supported through engagement events and access to dedicated resources via the Surrey Rider Home, offering advice on training, maintenance and safe riding.
The campaign will also support enforcement activity throughout the period, helping to reinforce the importance of safe behaviours and reduce the risk of serious collisions.
Road users are encouraged to play their part by adopting safer habits every time they travel.
