What is it?

BikeSafe is a national, police run initiative, giving motorcyclists the opportunity to develop their skills in a relaxed environment. BikeSafe aims to raise awareness of the importance and value of progressing on to accredited post-test training.

BikeSafe aims to be as practical as possible and to take into account each participants level of riding experience, alongside any specific objectives.

The ultimate aim of the initiative is to reduce motorcycling casualties.

What’s Involved?

The format of BikeSafe workshops vary but may include:

  • Attitudinal issues
  • Systematic methods
  • Collision causation
  • Cornering
  • Overtaking
  • Observation
  • Braking
  • Hazard perception
  • Use of gears

A BikeSafe workshop will include an on-road observed ride with a police motorcyclist or approved BikeSafe observer.
